Because our products are perishable food items, our refund and return policies are structured to comply with food safety standards while remaining fair to our customers.
Please read this policy carefully before placing an order. By purchasing from Fred’s Farm, you agree to the terms outlined below.
1. Perishable Product Notice
All meat products sold on our website (including Beef, Pork, Chicken, Turkey, Bone Broths, and Bulk Boxes) are highly perishable. Due to United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) regulations and food safety guidelines, we cannot accept physical returns of food products once they have left our custody or have been delivered. Do not ship meat products back to the farm.
2. Issues, Damaged, or Defective Orders
We want you to be completely satisfied with your farm-to-table meat. If there is a problem with your order, we will do our best to make it right. You may request a refund or store credit under the following circumstances:
- Damaged Packaging: The vacuum-seal packaging was compromised during transit, resulting in spoiled or un-executable meat.
- Incorrect Items: You received an item different from what you ordered (e.g., you ordered a Chuck Roast but received an Arm Roast).
- Missing Items: Items from your confirmed invoice or bulk box are missing upon delivery.
- Temperature Issues (For Shipped Orders): The meat arrived warm or completely thawed due to unexpected carrier delays. (Note: Meat that arrives chilled or partially thawed with ice crystals present is still safe to consume and does not qualify for a refund).
3. How to Request a Refund or Store Credit
To report an issue and request a resolution, you must contact us within forty-eight (48) hours of receiving your delivery or picking up your order.

- Provide your name, order number, and a brief description of the issue.
- Mandatory Photo Documentation: You must attach clear photographs showing the damaged product, compromised vacuum seals, shipping label, or the contents of the box. We cannot issue refunds or credits without photographic proof due to auditing requirements.
4. Evaluation and Resolution
Once we receive your request and photo documentation, we will review it within 3-5 business days. If approved, we will offer one of the following solutions at our sole discretion:
- A partial or full refund to your original payment method.
- A digital gift card or store credit to use on a future order.
- A replacement item shipped out with our next scheduled delivery run.
Please note that banking institutions can take 5-10 business days to post a refund back to your credit/debit card account.
5. Order Cancellations
- Standard Orders: You can cancel your order for a full refund up to 48 hours before your scheduled shipment date or designated pickup window. Cancellations requested less than 48 hours before fulfillment cannot be processed, as your meat will have already been packed and prepared.
- Bulk Box Deposits (Custom Whole/Half Beef, Custom Whole/Half Hog): Deposits made for custom animal shares lock in your processing slot. These deposits are non-refundable unless Fred’s Farm is unable to fulfill the order.
6. Non-Refundable Situations
Fred’s Farm is not responsible for, and will not issue refunds for, issues stemming from customer actions, including but not limited to:
- Providing an incorrect, incomplete, or old shipping address at checkout.
- Leaving a delivered package unattended outdoors for an extended period, leading to thawing or theft.
- Failing to pick up an order at a designated community pickup spot during the scheduled window.
- Personal taste preferences or changing your mind after purchase.
